iFrustrated

OK, I am totally confused by iCloud/Photo Stream, etc.

My iPhone (5c, version 8.0.2) is constantly telling me I'm almost out of storage. Fair enough, I got the smallest one there was, and am kicking myself for it. Anyway, I am trying to figure out if my photos are actually uploading to iCloud so I can delete them from my phone, and I can't figure it out.

If I go to icloud.com and sign in, it doesn't show me my photos. When I am on my phone, if I delete photos, it says they will be deleted from my Photo Stream on all devices. Well, I don't want that, because I want to keep my photos, I just don't want them on my phone anymore.

When I look up articles related to this online, they all talk about the Camera Roll, and how you can delete photos from the Camera Roll without deleting them from the Stream...But it seems to me that Camera Roll has been done away with, because I do not see the words "Camera Roll" anywhere on my photos or camera anymore. It used to show that, when I first got the phone, but now it does not.

So how do I know that my photos are actually being backed up to iCloud, so I can delete them from my phone? How do I delete them from my phone without deleting them from iCloud and the Stream? Or, if I can't delete them just from my phone, and have to delete them from my Stream, how do I know they are now in iCloud? I just can't figure this out.

I have everything on my phone set so that it backs up to iCloud. Under Settings -> Photos & Camera, I have My Photo Stream turned on. Under Settings -> iCloud, I have iCloud drive and Photos turned on.

I have read that in the newest version of the OS, there is this iCloud Photo Library...But I can't update my phone to the newest version because there isn't enough room.

See my dilemma here? Driving me nuts.

Thank you in advance to anyone who has some insights on this!!!

Macbook pro crash

The year 20011, I published that I had decided to buy a Macbook Pro because according to what he had heard and read was a team very stable and long-lasting, because now I'm waiting for you to pick up because when I'm working on the computer it crashes constantly. A friend told me that if team emitted sounds it was because I was missing something at the hardware level and by the behavior of the fault all pointed to the RAM. (If you don't see the video bellow, follow this link)

So I went to a shop to buy more memory and did an upgrade from 4 GB to 8 GB. At the moment of change, the service told me that it was not hardware problem because they made him "a couple of tests", and recommended me to install all over again.
I reach the House I started to update Maverick to Yosemite, but the same "crash" didn't let me carry out the process, so I had to install Snow Leopard, then test the computer with this version of the operating system I realized that is remained crash the system, I decided to then migrate to Yosemite, but now the problem is exacerbated because it crashes more often.

Macbook Yosemite Fail

This has me very occupying the computer repaired just advancing in my thesis, as computer work halfway.
And what bothers me most is that these are very expensive computers, and I made a big effort to buy and after three years failure and repairs are also expensive, I have a Dell cpx 500 mhz that runs from the year 2004 and never a failed and a netbook Packard Bell that I have treated very poorly and I have demanded much and works without problems, but the MAC that is treated like Holy bone is in intensive treatment.

Macbook constantly falling asleep for a few seconds

Very suddenly, my 2008 aluminum unibody Macbook has started flashing a black screen for a second. Afterwards, it returns me to the login screen as if it has just woken up from sleep.

I would've thought it had something to do with the display (bulb, inverter cable....) except for the fact that it returns me to the login screen.

It was in a bag that had a magnetic closure yesterday, so that might've affected the sleep magnet. I use sleep mode a lot, but it doesn't reliably sleep when the lid is closed.

I've reset the SMC and PRAM. No improvement. I'll reinstall Mavericks next to see if that helps. Otherwise, I'm puzzled. Any ideas?

Looking for a mic for voice recording

I'm looking for some recommendations for mics that can be used with a Mac for voice recording instead of using the built in mic.

I'm looking for decent voice quality, but don't need professional quality. End recordings will be posted online in .mp3 and .ogg formats.

Nothing too expensive, maybe under $40?

USB, audio jack plug-in or some other?

Also open to mics with headphones, like for Skype, as long as it can be used for voice recording.

Running OSX on an Intel Mac.

Installation of Adobe Flash Player 13 fails...

There was a new release of Flash the other day.  It goes through the Initializing and the download.  Then it asks for my update option (I select "Notify me to install updates").  Then it says creating download, downloading, installing and then asks me to exit Firefox.  Then it says installing.  The bar moves about half way across the screen and says “Error: Unable to proceed with the installation”.  There’s a “Finish” box.  When I click on it, a copy of Firefox opens pointing to “http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/completion/aih/?exitcode=30&type=install” which says “Adobe Flash Player could not be installed.”

I’ve gone through Adobe’s suggestions on how to “fix” this nightmare, including the worst move of all, uninstalling the working copy of Flash that was on my machine.  Now I have no Flash Player at all.

Any knowledge, suggestions or offerings would be tremendously appreciated.

Kind regards,
jack

Help required - what macbook to purchase

Hi everyone!
I am seeking to buy a new MacBook Pro. Or maybe even the air. But I think I really am hell bent on getting the MacBook Pro with retina display.

I had my first MacBook Pro in 2005 then I got a Mac Pro 8 core in 2010.

I need a new MacBook Pro for on the go. What I need it for is:
1. Editing a ton of HD footage using final cut.
2. Editing tons of photosets using photoshop.
3. Webcamming

These 3 tasks are done pretty much every day so I really need something powerful but still not too pricey.

Should I buy new? What model should I go for? Is 4GB RAM going to be enough? Obviously I'm going to have to use an external drive so what external drive should I buy that will be fast?

Thanks in advance.

HD Replacement

I have an older iMac Core Duo that is starting to have problems with the HD. I'd like to have some idea of what it would cost to have it replaced at an Apple store. I'd be looking at replacing it with a 500 GB drive, which is double what came in it.

Has anyone recently had an iMac's HD replaced at an Apple store and can give me an idea of what they'll charge? Otherwise I'll have to haul my iMac out to the store to find out since you can't get a live person on the phone at the store. Also, how long did it take to get done?

Slow iMac!

Hi all,

Just wondering if you could give me some good advice on how I can really speed up my iMac. I am struggling to use the likes of Photoshop due to the slowness of my Mac. I have had it for maybe 6 years, but really hoping I can get some more memory into it? I notice there isn't much memory left for the macintosh disk, so I am guessing this is why it's become very slow?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Here is a photo of my current mac information:-

Many thanks for your time!

internet issues

I have a MacBook and am currently running OS 10.5.8. The past few months I have had a lot of problems loading pages on the internet. I got back and forth between using Safari and Firefox. The pages will timeout when loading or cannot be found. I have to hit refresh multiple times. I have trouble loading basic pages like google.com and yahoo.com. I know OS 10.9 just came out a few months ago.

Do you think part of my problem is that my OS system is outdated? Any other suggestions?
